"Why," you ask? Because we want profile pages to have freedom of customization, but also to have some consistency. This way, when anyone visits a deviant, they know they can always find the art in the top left, and personal info in the top right.

No problem. I'm a fan of the whole space thing as well as other cool stuff like that. I, myself, have no talent for the creation of art but I do have other talents. [link] Check that out. I make customized logon screens for windows xp. I just have a hard time finding art that I can use that meets their criteria to upload to the website. I do hope to start my own site soon, I've just been really busy with work lately.
They look really nice! Another guy from dA uses my nebula and stuff (with my permission of course,) to make logon screens and skins over at wincustomize too. He says they do very well there.
